Eastern & Oriental Hotel Celebrates 130 Years Of Colonial Charm With Media Friends
13 March 2015
Penang, 13 March 2015 – Eastern & Oriental Hotel, a heritage landmark at the heart of George Town that has proudly hosted a myriad of celebrated guests for over a century, commemorated its 130th anniversary with media friends in Penang recently.
Held at Sarkies Corner, the hotel’s colonial-styled dining room named after its founders, the anniversary cum Media Appreciation Night saw more than 200 members of the media sharing this memorable occasion with Eastern & Oriental Group’s senior management team and employees.
“This year, in conjunction with the 130th anniversary of our beloved E&O Hotel, we have decided to hold our Media Appreciation Night here. The media supported us through the years with their articles, stories and photographs, enabling us to reach people far and wide, making them our guests, customers, business partners and friends, and for this we must thank you,” Dato’ Terry Tham, Managing Director of E&O said during his welcome address.
A beautiful cake modelled after the hotel and crafted by the hotel’s very own kitchen team was presented to the guests during a cake cutting ceremony. Media guests were then treated to a delectable dinner buffet spread of both local and international cuisine.
Guests also enjoyed a special Anniversary Blend of cocktail and mocktail that were prepared by the hotel team to celebrate the occasion. ‘Gin Stengah’, a fruity assortment of gin, pineapple and longan, and ‘The Colonial’, a concoction of lemongrass, pineapple and fresh lime mocktail, were served to the guests during the media event.
Members of the media were having a grand time taking turns at the photo booth, and some returned home as the happy winners of the lucky draw, with prizes such as spa vouchers, dining and room vouchers at the E&O Hotel, Lone Pine Hotel and E&O Residences.
