Penang, 1 December 2023 – Guests ushered in the festive season with a spectacle of lights, music, and holiday cheer at the much awaited Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Eastern & Oriental (E&O) Hotel.

Hundreds of guests were captivated by the stunning 6-meter-tall Christmas tree – a towering symbol of holiday magic, which was decked out in an impressive display of red and gold themed ornaments and adorned with thousands of twinkling fairy lights.

Held for the 18^th time, the tree lighting ceremony saw business partners, guests and staffs coming together to celebrate the spirit of the season as they cheered and applauded when the tree lit up at 7:15pm with echoes of Merry Christmas and glasses clinking ringing through the lobby.

Hotel general manager Alison Fraser said there were many things to be thankful for this year but she is most thankful for the support that the hotel had received.

“On behalf of the E&O family I would like to thank our loyal guests, business partners and media liaisons for their unwavering support throughout the years.

“It is always a joy to see all the familiar faces and I hope that we will be able to gather and celebrate more joyous occasions together in the years to come,” she said.

Elevating the festive atmosphere were the Penang Unity Vocal Ensemble from the Penang Philharmonic Orchestra who enchanted guests with age old classics such as Joy To The World, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town and Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer.

The harmonious melodies added a magical touch to the ceremony, creating an unforgettable experience.

Guests further indulged in the holiday spirit as they mingled over an array of delectable canapes paired with an assortment of beverages.
