E&O Hotel Celebrates Age-Old Yuletide Tradition
1 December 2018
Penang, 1 December 2018 – Christmas is once again upon the Eastern & Oriental (E&O) Hotel with the holiday spirit well underway as guests came together for an early celebration.
For the 15th year running, the hotel annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony which has established itself as part of Penang’s Yuletide traditions was carried out amidst cheers and applause of guests and visitors locally and abroad.
A six-metre lofty tree bedecked with shiny colourful baubles, ornaments, tinsel and fairy lights stood tall within the Heritage Wing lobby in all it’s glory just as it has done for the past many years.
Among the excited crowd in the evening were many returned guests and long-standing business associates who were resplendently clad in evening wear.
The atmosphere cresendoed when the hotel staff members and others on the floor joined the Messenger choir belting out a series of classic Christmas carols.
E&O Berhad group hospitality and lifestyle director Michael Saxon said it was important to maintain the tradition which helps to enhance bonds among people besides serving as a platform for them to look back fondly on one’s past .
“Christmas is a traditional holiday and should be celebrated that way with Christmas invites in the mail and together with all the people that matter so we do not lose the human touch.
“It is also a time for us to recognise all the good that has happened throughout the year and give thanks to whoever it is due for without them, none of this would be possible,” said Saxon.
Guests were treated to a free flow of beverages and canapés alongside assorted freshly baked Christmas cookies throughout the night.
The Santa and Santarinas also made an appearance for photo opportunities with the guests.
