Sumptuous Buka Puasa Buffet At Sarkies In E&O Hotel, Penang

Penang, 18 June 2015 – Be spoilt for choice this holy month of Ramadan when you savour the Eastern & Oriental Hotel’s (E&O Hotel) Sarkies restaurant sumptuous Buka Puasa buffet spread.
The E&O Hotel’s ever-popular breaking fast buffet which will run from today until July offers a delightful blend of traditional dishes served during the Hari Raya season as well as Malaysian and international favourites from the world over.
Executive Chef Michel Camy said “one must not miss the succulent E&O Roasted Duck, a popular house specialty that goes great with its accompanying gravy.”
“For Buka Puasa, we have our chef creation Malaysian kampong dishes such as Ayam Percik, Rendang Daging, Daging Masak Merah, Kurma Kambing, Udang Goreng Rempah, Opor Daging Kambing, Gulai Ketam Kampung style and Lala Tumis Kering,”he said.
The chef’s recommendation, Daging Masak Merah, which is braised meat and peas in coconut and chilli sauce garnished with tomato wedges and onion rings, is tender and flavourful.
The Kurma Kambing, which is simmered lamb with onions, garlic, spices, yoghurt, almonds and fresh ginger, is also one of his top picks.
While some of the popular items are fixtures, the rest of the menu is rotated on a daily basis so diners can sample different treats on each visit.
The various starters ranging from refreshing green salads to the zesty Thai grilled squid salad and assorted ulam are a perfect beginning to a sumptuous spread.
If you are a fan of Japanese cuisine, the sushi rolls, salmon and tuna in smoked and sashimi form are available at a special counter and will certainly whet your appetite.
The crowd favourite is always the seafood-on-ice section which offers mouth-watering morsels like tiger prawns, green mussels, yabbies, snow crabs, spanner crabs, oysters and herring.
Diners can also have their seafood grilled or savour their steaks and slow roasted lamb that are served from the grill and carvery stations, waiting to be lathered in your favourite sauces.
For desserts, diners will definitely be spoilt for choice with the medley of delectable items ranging from Western-style desserts to enduring local kuih.
The buffet is priced at RM128.30 nett per person and RM55.95 nett for children aged six to 12 while children below six years old get to dine for free.
